Wedding in Galilee is generally considered as the first film of the
Palestinian New Wave, that is, the birth of an independent Palestinian
cinema in Israel and the Occupied Territories.
Through a traditional wedding, in a village under curfew, in the presence
of the Occupier (who invited himself), Michel Khleifi shows that the
wedding between Israelis and Palestinians is clearly impossible as long as
occupation and dispossession continue.
