Three Wishes in Gaza (2022)

Origin: Palestine, Italy | Documentary | Director: Marco Pirrello | 40 minutes

Three Wishes in Gaza
If inside Gaza, a veritable open-air prison, I asked a woman or man what his or her “three wishes” were, it would have only one consequence: to document a hunger for life that few other human beings know. None of them wishes for the destruction of Israel. Telling this, now more than ever, serves to dismantle the rhetorical Western narrative that would like to flatten all Palestinians to violent positions. There are two ways to narrate Gaza: the terrible images of bombs that never stop raining from the sky, or the tale of a strange time during which millions of souls remain suspended between a war that has just ended and one that will not be long in coming.
