The light at the end of the tunnel (2001)

Origin: Unknown | Documentary | Director: Sobhi al-Zobaidi | 52 minutes

The light at the end of the tunnel gives the floor to six former Palestinian prisoners, including two women. With this documentary shown in Doha, Amman, Amsterdam and the United States, Sobhi al-Zobaidi's merit is that he does not allow himself to be trapped by the representation of the hero or heroine, made to serve a cause at the expense of the real story.
With frankness and without taboos, the protagonists freed from the jails - Israeli for some, but Palestinian for others - tell of their difficulties in reintegrating in their society and re-establishing the link with their families. Some say that they feel they have left a prison to end up in another prison with invisible bars.
"I think the weight is double for women. Prison brings them to acquire a strength that frightens people in our societies".
