My Neighbourhood (2012)

Origin: Palestine | Documentary | Director: Julia Bacha & Rebekah Wingert-Jabi | 25 minutes

This film highlights the forced displacement of families in Jerusalem's Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.
"My Neighborhood" follows writer, activist, and poet, Mohammed El-Kurd as a young boy, when half of his home was forcibly taken over by Jewish settlers. El-Kurd has been at the center of the protests in Sheikh Jarrah in May 2021, representing a voice of Palestinians against occupation and forced expulsion. These displacements have been experienced by Palestinians for generations and are condemned as a violation of international law and are the root cause of Palestinian resistance to Israeli occupation.
